Abigail Fríða Winther (b. January 1995, United States) is a Faroese-American visual artist raised in the Faroe Islands, where the shifting rhythms of nature and the quiet strength of island life have profoundly shaped her artistic vision. Moving between two cultures, she has developed a visual language rooted in both introspection and belonging.
Her work centers on the relationship between women and nature—two forces that mirror, nurture, and transform one another. Through her paintings, Winther explores a holistic and conscious way of living, where the inner world and the natural environment are inseparable. Figures often emerge in organic landscapes, not as subjects placed within nature, but as extensions of it—fluid, grounded, and deeply connected.
Self-trained, Winther has shaped her practice through both independence and experience, including an art course in Abruzzo, Italy (2016), and an artist residency in Delft, Holland (2016). These encounters expanded her perspective, while reinforcing her connection to her Faroese roots.
